I'm trying to encode a movie (Godfather II) that was originally on 2 dvd's. I want to encode this movie as a whole, since I will get a difference in quality between parts if I encode it in 2 parts.

I've created a dvd2avi-project that includes all the vob's. My problem is I've got 2 different ifo's now, so what I want to know is: what are the ifo's used for? Are they used just for ripping the subtitles?

Yes, the ifo file is only used for subtitles, so if you can do without them then you are in luck.

If u want the subs, you will probably have to use subrip to rip them to a text based format, set the right offset for the last one and join them.
