What does it mean to finalize DVDs?

I thought it meant i can play data-write movies in my DVD player? However, that was not the case?

Is there any way to play data write movies on my DVD player?

If you are talking about DVD-RW or DVD+RW disks, you should check the specs for your player to see if it can play them; not all players can play rewritable DVD media.

What is the brand and model number of your player?

Hi!

Is your question in this new thread related to the difficulties you described in this earlier thread (and a couple of others)?:

Some DVD players have the additional ability to play certain files if they're burned to a data disk. Does yours?

It's also considered common courtesy to return to a thread in which you received help and either answer follow-up questions or post the results of the help given, otherwise people will think they're wasting their time trying to aid you.

I'm not sure what you mean by "data write movies". What video format are these movies in? Video and audio files have to be placed inside VOB files, and then a structure which adheres to the dvd standard has to be written to the disk. You can't just write video files to a dvd-r using data mode and play it on a standard dvd player. I have never seen one that could do that...at least none of the brand name players.

What you need to get is a tool that will take your video files and create a dvd-video file structure that you can then burn to dvd. I like using a program called TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0. You can find it on google or yahoo's search.

A free and good conversion program (but without menus) is DVD Flick (http://www.dvdflick.net/).
