Hi!

It would be beneficial if you state the Title and Region of the DVD that's causing this behavior...

Sounds like your system is either overheating or you have some bad RAM.

1) Open up the desktop computer and clean out any dust bunnies and grease that may have accumulated. Be particularly thorough regarding the fan(s).

2) Run "MemTest", or similar, thoroughly. This may take several hours

3) Which version of DVD Shrink did you download and from where did you download it?

What link was that?

I ask because the Doom9.net website doesn't include DVD Shrink among its downloads...

it wasn't doom9 i was reading some faq's and someone else had different problems with dvd shrink and a couple of users said here was a link so i tried one and downloaded the newer version

The latest legitimate version of DVD Shrink is v.3.2.0.15. It can be obtained at:

www.mrbass.org

Have you run "MEMTest" yet? If so, any problems?

There are links to many DVD compression programs in several of the threads (and one of the "Stickies") in the "Decrypting" sub-forum...

I seriously doubt this is the program's error. Trying to read between the lines of this gentleman's vague answers, I would suggest that he may have a hardware problem, vis. read/write with a tired DVD-RW, or possibly he has his CD service (in WINDOWS sysinternals - maybe InCD, who knows?) turned off.

or

If you just installed VISTA, your CD service won't work with many older programs. Go here for a free ISO burner:
http://4sysops.com/archives/iso-recorder-v3-free-vista-tool-to-create-iso-files-and-burn-iso-images-on-cd-and-dvd/.

Or here (Microsoft's sysinternals team) for serious tech advice from the pros:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx

If you can't be more specific about your problem, you need a personal mechanic, not a public forum. We can't open the box for you from here.
