EQUIPMENT:
PIONEER DVR-AO3 (retail version)
PRIMO DVD 2.0

I have couple of questions to ask of you.

Q1. Under CDR-win 4.0, the program recognize Pioneer DVR-AO3
as Pioneer DVR-103 with 1.44 firmware. What is going on? Did I
got this by mistake? It is supposed to be an oem version. E-mail
Pioneer, still waiting for an answer.

Q2. According to your instruction to burn DVD-RW with Prassi Primo
DVD, in the Data Job Options you listed these options:

Pre-mastering Cache:
File Date and Time
(check) When loading a track, if a file alreading exits......

CD
Recording typpe mode: mode 1
file system type

primary volume descriptors fields (for the ISO and/or Joiet trees)
Publisher ID
data preparer
apllication ID

However, in my program i also have:

DVD:
Recording type: Disc at once (DAO), closed
this open is in gray, it can't be changed

file system type:

has two options:
UDF w/joliet-up to 106 in length, any char., plus joliet, plus 8+3 tree (Bridge)

UDF- up to 128 in file name length, any char., plus 8+3 tree (Bridge)

Q3. which of these options should i choose, and does it make any differences?

Also, becasue i am running Win 2000 professional , i can't really up
date the firmware cuz the firmware must be run in dos or pure dos,
in which Win 2000 professional CAN'T BE DONE.
Or am I wrong about this? If so, please show me how?

Answer to Q3:

You want to run in DOS pure mode to update firmware from 2k or XP?
Find a Windows 9x/Me Startup 3 1/2" disk and run the firmware program from a 3 1/2" diskette if you have NTFS partition on your HD.
If you have FAT32, you can run it from your HD.

newera what rmtaibo is saying is to use a Windows 98 or ME boot disk. Create a 2nd floppy with the firmware files. Boot from the boot disk, then switch disks and run the firmware update (read the instructions that comes with the update). From what I can tell the A03 has different firmware versions for the retail and the OEM versions. First verify thatyour drive is the A03 since using the incorrect firmware update can damage your drive.

Also in future posts you might want to give it a more meaningful subject so when someone else is having the same problem they can just read your post rather than creating an entirely new one. A better subject name would have been "Need help with Firmware update for A03". But you asked for Derrow's help so less people will read your post.
