All,

Right now, are there any software in market that allow us to backup our DVD movie collections by creating a DVD image like how we backup our CD collection with a CD image using CloneCD or CDRWin, etc..? I'm asking because recently, I lended some DVD movies to my friends and two of my DVD movies have being scratched. Therefore, I would like to create a backup so that that I can burn later when DVD+RW becomes cheaper. Also, since hard drive is so damn cheap. :)

I heard that FantomCD can create DVD image as well as CD image? Is this true? Have anyone try to create a DVD image before with this program? What's your experience?

Thanks in advance. Any information would be greatly appreciated. :)

Sounds like a very good idea. I also had that thought along your way. I am new to this and may be WET behind the ears, but maybe possible if the cloned disc does not have (INFO preventing it from doing so ) I have noticed in 2 burning progs that ther is 3 types Movie/File/Disc backup. I havent had time to try it as i am just getting dvd bugs out for my collection, Once that is done i will try it. Yor may want to e-mail DERROW on this subject, i believe you will not find anyone more qualified to answer or tell how to do it. If you find out PLease LMK and i am sure others would also like to know. I am looking into Maxtors 160 gig 4 platter HD reight now. But Warranty info is a little scetchy ?? such as 90 days or has not been determined yet on their web site.
the other way i believe is to store your FINAL (completed) disc info on the HD where you can retrieve it any time to burn, this may be the most practical way.
Again may be WET behind the ears. Just trying to help. Good luck and Happy New Years.:)
