Which 4:2:0 Chroma Sample Location x264 use?

Hi,
i was wondering which chroma sample location x264 uses for the encoding (i presume the Mpeg2 variant), and if this sample location can be set different, like Mpeg1 variant or others customized.
I read that there is the --chromaloc parameter which permit this, but at the moment i don't know of any pre-builded matrix parameter i can pass to the codec.
Or i'm wrong?

x264 doesn't care which chroma location the content is in. --chromaloc simply sets some metadata. And I don't know any playback device that cares either.
