I Have a ronin P80H DVD player for the T.V
The spec says it should play dvd-r format,i have a datawrite disc and my homemovie plays fine, cool,so i buy some TDK DVD-R discs and burn a home movie and the player says NO DISC,it plays dvd+r even tho the spec doesnt mention these.
so,why does it play 1 type of -r and not these TDK -r`s ???
confused is i !
cheers

It would be nice if playability was something simple, but it's not, many variables, your dvd burner, it's firmware, the burn speed, the quality of the blanks used, their consistency, and the standalone player. So far you have given one value, the standalone, tdk/datawrite and +/- don't really tell us anything.

Plus, what settings you use. I found recently that a couple DVD+Rs I burnt with CDBurnerXP Pro 3 were skipping due to me using Joliet instead of ISO Mode 1. Since the standard DVD has no more than 8 characters per filename, ISO Mode 1 is great for DVDs, and I've burnt 2 in that mode that haven't skipped!

@The Rigwhy does the datawrite dvd-r play but the tdk - r doesnt ?????The "why" is irrelevant, as the inconsistency of burnable media used with different DVD-ROMs, burners, standalone players, and tabletop recorders has always been a known problem.
At the link I provided, a poster indicated that Verbatims, which are of higher consistent quality than TDKs, worked properly with your unit. I'd suggest that you try Verbatim burnable media...
