Hi all!

I have a new MiniDV video camera Sony HC26E. The resulting quality of its video is low with a lot of noise.

I capture video with firewire cable with the help of Ulead VST 10 and save it as DV video file in AVI container.

I then convert it with Nero Recode 2.5.2.0 to Nero AVC.

I have attached the resulting log file to my post, I hope it gives all the information about my settings.

My question is: am I doing everything correct in terms of settings? And the second question: this bitrate (2 Mb/s) seems to be minimal in terms of artifacts (squares when there fast movements) appearing. Is it possible to make bitrate even less without loosing a lot of quality? I watch my videos at both TV and monitor, of course everything looks better on TV and artifacts are less.

PS I have just checked the log file - it seems that there is so little info in it... So my settings are for most quality where possible, two passes, all the options are checked. Deblocking options default.

You'll achieve the biggest quality gain if you do avisynth video preprocessing for the DV (in order to best reduce the noise), and drag and drop the .avs script to Recode.
I'll recommend you check the avisynth forum at Doom9 and find out what preprocessing works best for your video.
