View Full Version : After partition a HDD there is a slow down

Well, a question to the hardware geeks.
After partition my boot device HDD 0 with partiton magic it became slower.
Before partition I got almost 66 megabytes/sec unbuffered throughput.
After partition the boot partion is at about 44, the second partition is at 37, and the last partition at 27 megabytes/sec.
HDD 1 data disc is not partitionated and shows the desired 66 megabytes/sec.
Tested with different HDD benchmarks. The data HDD is cluttered with many files.
The boot partition slick and lean, only programs and OS.

Well, my thought is, maybe because the first partition is on the faster, outer area of the physical HDD, partition 1 is fastest.
Partition 2 in the middle of the disc, a bit slower. And partition 3 at the inner area, slowest.
But why on the second unpartitionated drive there is not a slowdown, even it is filled with data.
Some suggestions and explanations are very welcome:thanks:
