Import AC3 Into Premiere? [Archive]

Is there any plugin that will allow you to import AC3 files into Premiere without first having to convert them to wavs? Or is AC3 considered an export-only format?

Do you mean audio that's already attached to a video, or just AC-3 audio by itself? If it's the former, then there's some advice here on how to get PPro to open AC-3 audio here:

Either way, though, PPro can't even export AC-3 audio natively; that requires an extra purchase of nearly $300 for the Minnetonka plug-in. Encore can encode stereo AC-3, but not 5.1

If you really want to work with AC-3 audio, Vegas Pro 8 is a better choice.
