I've been making dvd's for some time, converting mkv's and ogms to avi's and demuxing the audio etc etc. Some time ago i was trying to streamline the process and installed the K-lite codec pack(atleast i believe it was this pack). Since then, any program that attempts to remux a file gets a "file in use" error. Examples: OGM to AVI, when it remuxes the audio and video. DVDLabPro when it demuxes and remuxes into mpv's. It's even affected NeroExpress when "Adding video files" for some reason.

I'm not sure if its a virus, but i haven't ruled that option out.

If anyone has any knowledge of this kindof error happening, i can give you more specific details on whats happening. Please help, this has brought my dvd making to a halt.

Do you have thumbnail view enabled in Windows Explorer? That can cause major problems with media files.

To disable it:
Start -> Run -> regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll

I uninstalled almost all the codecs with no success, and no i don't have thumbnails on. As a further example of what happens: DVDlabpro often converts files like mpg to mpv for dvd burning. usuallt the mpv is (original filename).mpv. Recently it has been showing up as simply .mpv with no file name. if this is more confusing then nevermind.

Hi!

Try performing a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly...

No such luck on the system restore.

Has anyone heard of a problem like this? it seems to be involved with the MKVextract program, but i can't determine which program is causing the "file in use" error.

If anyone has atleast some info or know where i can get more accurate help, please let me know.
