Hello,
I recorded a movie from my TV Card with my Windows Vista Media Center. I converted the dvr-ms file to a normal mpeg file.
After that i want to convert this mpeg to an xvid movie with virtualdubmod.
I using the xvid tutorial from this site with two-pass encoding and the newest xvid codec.
After encoding, the movie doesn't run smoothly. How can this happen? I set the FPS to 25 and used all settings from the tutorial, but why does the movie doesn't run well after encoding?
Thanks for help

Hi!I converted the dvr-ms file to a normal mpeg file.Have you played the "normal MPEG file" to see if it runs smoothly?

Yes, it runs normally.

Could it be that the mpeg is non-interlaced material at 29.976 fps?

GSpot says 25FPS.
Or where do i have to look. I read somewhere that the Media Center records in 29fps, but i thought that would be NTSC.

Has anybody an idea why the video slows down after encoding?

Help Please!!
I tried to input an avi file into vdubmod and keep getting this error message
"Couldn't locate decompressor for format yv12 unknown. Virtualdub requires a VFW compatible codec to decompress video......"
How do I download this codec.

Install a codec which supports YV12 like DivX or one of the recent XviD builds of Koepi or Helix YUV codec or some other (ffvfw, ffdshow). Xvid is free so u should try it rather than Divx. Now try to input the file in VDub.
If it still doesn't work then locate this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"VIDC.YV12"="MSYUV.DLL"
If "VIDC.YV12" key is not in your registry then, create this key by clicking on Edit -> New -> String Value. Rename the new string value as VIDC.YV12. Double click on the key u just created & add this xvidvfw.dll in Value Data field. (Be sure to have xvid installed.)

This is my first attempt at useing this great app. I'm therefore a novice. I downloaded xvid and it work like magic
