remove scratches & big spots

hi,

I have been trying descratch and despot with default settings and also changing some parameters to remove this kind of noise in the following video but got no luck.

I'm wondering if there is any filter out there that can remove this noise?

you could give Fizick's despot a try. that stuff's pretty hardcore though - you'd have to turn the filter up so high it'll start removing objects as well. in this case you may have to use applyrange or a lot of trim(in,out).filter()++trim(out+1,out2)++trim(out2+1,etc)... statements. that way you can go scene by scene and prevent other artefacts.

you may also want to run dedot/tcomb on that to get rid of the crawling dots on the supers there.

Well, I tried raising almost all switches in despot but I get only a blurest picture, not object or big white spot removal. Thanks anyway.

probably your video has frame (field) duplicates.
(But I did not look to it.)

just tried despot on your sample with:

DeSpot(median=true, p1=6, p2=3, mthres=100)

not great but it looked better

:eek: Wow, that's was very effective, the only con that I found that although it removes the gross dirt it add some other in other frames, see:

And that just in that short sample, you realize that I can't apply that script to the whole movie. There is any way to apply that filter just in a range of frames?

That's what'll happen. ;_;

Look at stickboy's applyrange plugin/functions. If it's fairly localized, largely in a few scenes, it's much easier to manually fix the problems that way. (If it's just a handful of really bad frames, exporting and fixing in a photo editor might be the best choice.)

Looking at the whole movie carefully trying to set on what range apply despot I found that almost 80% of the video is full of dirt so apply that filter by range doesn't look the best idea :(. I loved how despot works on those frames above, pity that cause that other noise, I'll have to look for some other filter.
