like the title says, whenever I split a mkv file with mkvmerge, the resulting files become more and more out of sync. They're fine at the beginning, but at the end of the film, the audio is usually 5-6 seconds ahead of the video.
mkvmerge's warning box outputs that "Warning: 'E:\DVD\Casino Royale-006.mkv' track 2: The current packet's timecode is smaller than that of the previous packet. This usually means that the source file is a Matroska file that has not been created 100% correctly. The timecodes of all packets will be adjusted by 96ms in order not to lose any data. This may throw A/V sync off, but that can be corrected with mkvmerge's "--sync" option. If you already use "--sync" and you still get this warning then do NOT worry -- this is normal. If this error happens more than once and you get this message more than once for a particular track then either is the source file badly mastered, or mkvmerge contains a bug. In this case you should contact the author Moritz Bunkus <moritz@bunkus.org>." several (read: 20 for 16m clip) times.

I graphed the total amount out of sync over a linear scale (im hoping its X inbetween each time it says the timecodes are off, if its not... then... well crap) this is the graph I got, as you can see based on the least squares linear fit, the amount of out-of-syncness isn't even increasing linearly. So even if I stretched the audio by a factor of .9968692125 it still goes out of sync.
i totaled the amount its out of sync after 1011.886s, got 3.168s, ((1011.886-3.168)/1011.886) = .9968692125. Using this stretch factor, its synced at the beginning and synced again at the end, but throughout the 16.86m clip, the audio gets ahead of the video, the audio gets behind the video, and for short periods, the two are actually synced. The graph shows this.
So as you can see, I'm at my wits ends here, any ideas or suggestions of other programs to use? The file I'm splitting was created with mkvmerge (muxed a .mp4 h.264 clip and ac3 audio) so.... im lost.
