Playing HD content (x264) from DVD?

Hey!

I've Googled for something like this and I've searched this forum, zip yet, most likely because I've been using the wrong terms, so -

I can't seem to play my HD-encodes from a regular DVD. Is there a software player that uses some sort of buffering during playback of video files from DVDs? (all sorts of, in this case mainly MKVs with x264/DTS in them)? The bitrate of these encodes is around 5kbit/sec, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem, I guess it's the high spikes that causes the stuttering.

Any ideas?

its possible that you're burning at too high of a speed..

or if thats not the case, im pretty sure you can poke around in the advanced options of vlc and find a audio/video buffer setting there.

Good point. However, with DL-blanks I can only burn 2,4x, so that might not exactly be the problem.

I rarely ever use VLC, I prefer ZoomPro with FFDShow. But I was thinking way too complicated anyway, I guess I'll try to set the "Source File"-Filters' buffer size. Can't test it at the moment since the computer I'm on doesn't even play 720p from the hard drive.
