Hi,I have a video clip that is listed as .mp4 but I cant play it. I know I obviously dont have the codec installed but I'm buggered if I know which codec is needed. I have opened this file with GSpot but all it says is that it is not a valid .avi file. If antone could help me find a way to identify the codec needed or even just how to play it I would be very grateful.

Try opening it with Mediainfo.

2) What is the original source material? Does it play properly on your PC?

3) Please post a screen capture of the GSpot screen with this file loaded

VLC plays a lot of stuff. What codec is available for .mp4s for windows?

does haali or ffdshow cover MPeg 4?
