sRAW & HDV

I have 2 questions:
- what's the difference between sRAW and HDV?
- sRAW is it compatible with HDV?

@guada2: I don't know much about sRAW, but it seems to be a still picture format with less storage consumption than RAW at a lower resolution (e.g. RAW = 3888 x 2592, sRAW = 1936 x 1288 for the Canon EOS-1D Mark III). HDV is an MPEG-2 based video format. How did you stumble across sRAW?

It's true.
I don't have any technical information on the sRaw, It seems more powerful than the raw.

Look at:
I know that Raw is a lossless picture, Raw DV is a lossless video picture. Or, what is DV if it is not a numerical format under 4.2.0 .
Moreover, HDV superior than DV.
if really sRaw have a great advantage; Why not "sRaw DV"
It's my opinion.....

That is to suppose to be interesting the relation (or correlation) beetwen Mpeg2 HD / AVCHD and H.264AVC.

DV is not lossless, it is a compressed format (the camera is compressing before storing it to tape). It's like moving jpg pictures.

HDV is a more compressed format than DV. The same amount of storage holds video of higher resolution. HDV use MPEG-2 compression. HDV is more lossy than DV but the quality may be better in HDV (better reolution but more compression artifacts).

If you are looking after video in camera raw format I think the problem is storage space and speed. If every video frame is 2 MB or something like that then 25 fps would mean 1 hour of video is 90000 images. 90000*2 MB = 180 GB. OK with a hard drive it could be possible but then you need to store 50-60 MB each second so it must be fast. Maybe some professional HDTV camera can do this but not any consumer camcorder.
