x264 in GK..

Hi,

After reading the x264 guide, I downloaded the GK rippack and codec pack and x264.exe. Installed as set out but when I went to click on the x264 default options to set it up, nothing happened. No window opened up like the divx one did.

As the x264 guide goes, this is where I was stuck. I can rip in AVI(XviD) but I can't in MKV(x264). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar problem with x264 in the past

The reason why x264.exe does not work with Gordian Knot is because GK supports VFW interface only, whereas
x264.exe has command-line interface (CLI).

So, there are 2 possibilities:
either download GUI such as MeGUI, MkvMagic, etc., any of which support CLI and, therefore, x264.exe
OR
(if you want to continue using Gordian Knot) you can download x264 with VFW interface here (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/x264_Video_Codec.htm)

Ah...But I got this one instead (Called DTS x264VFW) or something.

Sorry for giving you wrong link. I was sure I downloaded x264 vfw there... but now I see that it is wrong link.

Well, when you press 'First Pass' button on 'x264 default codec settings' you should choose 'Multipass 1-st pass', for the 'Second Pass' you must choose 'Multipass n-th pass'. Don't worry about bitrate settings as GK will automatically enter them before encoding. As for the rest of the settings, I recommend to read this x264 guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/gknot-main6.htm).
