View Full Version : Setting up autoplay handlers in XP

So I've pretty much finished my standalone divx machine.. except for one very annoying bug.

For some reason I'm having playback issues with WMP+WinXP (split second cpu maxing out, causing glitchy playback). So after tearing out my hair troubleshooting and trying some other players (PowerDivx, Bsplayer, GDivx), I think I've settled on GDivX for now. It seems to have all the nice things that WMP has, but without the glitchy playback. :)

Now if I could only figure out how to successfully set up WinXP to use GDivX (or any other player for that matter) as it's default player when inserting a DivX cd.

I'm using tweakXP to add the new player to the list of available autoplay options.. But I can't seem to get it to open the file in the root dir of the cd. There's a space for cmd args in the setup ("&L" is default) but I have no idea how to set this up. I've done many searches on setting up autoplay handlers in XP and the like but to no avail.

So does anyone out there have any advice on how I can make this work?

No word on how to set up autoplay handlers, but, I've fixed my original problem. It turned out to be the integrated sound card hogging the pci bus. Thanks to SANDRA (http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/) for pointing out the offending hardware. After installing a sound blaster card, all is well.

yaaaay!
