View Full Version : Help! Gundam Wing + RipIt4Me = No Luck!

I am trying to backup Gundam Wing Operation 2 (basically, disc # 2).
There are 5 episodes per disc. I used RipIt4Me (along with the obligatory final DvdDecrypter 3.5.4.0). Strangely, RipIt4Me did not correctly rip it, as it had 100% in the past. The resulting video was a "green background", skipping frames, and every couple of seconds there would be *some* video, but it would have "blocks" creep up and then it would go all black or all green again.
If someone had success with Gundam Wing please let me know what tools you had used! I want to learn more about what is going on "behind the scenes" with whatever Gundam Wing protection is using! I will update this post with more tech info and other attempts I make.
Thanks

That software is no longer supported.
Try DVDFab Decrypter.

I have the Anime Legends DVD Collection version (I don't know if it's the same as the individual discs) and I just used plain old DVDDecrypter to rip it in File Mode. I didn't check if the actual rips are fine, but iirc, the DVD5 I made from it with DVD Rebuilder works just fine so I'm assuming the original rip was good.

@ripandpawn
Hi!
Have you played the rip from your harddrive to see if it exhibits this problematic behavior, or is it only the burned DVD that behaves this way?

I have the animelegends version, and a single version of Operation 4, though the discs are essentially the same (just simplified labels to make them cheaper I suppose). Both have ripped fine for me with DVD Decrypter, and since they're old discs (2000/2001), protection should not be an issue beyond CSS... The show even IVTC's pretty well (the video quality itself though is a joke, coming from composite masters, coupled with terrible compression).
I'm not sure what else could be causing it on your end, post some settings perhaps.

Thank you guys for your input. I appreciate the doom9 forums very much. I will try DVDFab, and I will also try straight dvddecrypter without ripit4me. And yes, when I tried playing back the rip from the HD, it did exhibit the strange video playback.
Ill post my result when I get it done. Thanks

Yeah, DVDFab is a good rip utility. It's always done me right.

@rookandpawn
Have you played the ORIGINAL DVD on your PC?
I'm guessing it will also exhibit this behavior.
If so, return the DVD in exchange for a new replacement...

Okay I tried DVDFab Decrypter, perfect! I'm so amazed.
Notes: When playback from the original DVD with FFDShow (using Zoom), i had the "abnormal" playback. Playback from the original DVD with BlazeDVD (Commercial), i had no problem on playback.
When playback with FFDShow from the ripped to HD with RipIt4Me, "abnormal" playback. Playback with BlazeDVD when using RipIt4Me, "abnormal" playback.
With DVDFabDecrypter rip to HD playback with FFDShow & Blaze = "Great!"
Well, Im sure to come back to the forums again with this kind of generous free support! Thanks.
