Hello,

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me in finding a way to convert .mkv to .mp4. I've made numerous attempts with Mediacoder, only to get a .mp4 that has no video when played back on Quicktime. The goal of this is to take the .mkv's I have and to convert them into a format that will play on my Apple TV. The .mkv's in which I have are 720p; just thought I'd mention that. I've included some pictures to illustrate what settings I have now, and perhaps someone might be able to give me guidance as to how to change these settings in order to yield a desirable result.

Damnit, Picasaweb is down. Have to link directly from my Facebook album. Sorry about the crappy resolution, but you should be able to see what I'm talking about.

so I guess the punchline to all this is; obviously setting it to H.264 w/MP4 container and having the MP4BOX as the multiplexer isn't quite doing it. What settings do I need to change/what other programs do I need in order for this to work. Just to reiterate, this is all in order to get a high-def .mkv into .mp4 so that it will playback on an Apple TV.

(And yes, I know of the Apple hacks out there. I would prefer to convert my video instead)

I just did a little more research...If the file (.mkv) is originally encoded with a highAVC profile, I believe Quicktime will choke on it, as it cannot play it back? I would assume that would render me out of luck, unless we do some encoding magic?

I'm lost.
