x264 Colorspace Problem

I'm converting an HD DVD to x264, and have come across the following problem. In dark scenes, the x264 encode is noticeably brighter. The picture quality is still good, but it's just brighter. I believe this is from the colorspace conversion of (16,235)->(0,255), but I'm not sure. In any case, it's something I'd like to bring attention to. Below are screenshots of the source, and a sample reencode. Is there any solution to this?

I can't see your images, (try using imageshack.us instead) but have you tried using colormatrix?

If you use vista I suggest to force RGB in FFDshow.

I'm running XP, and I don't have FFDShow installed. I've played the small clip in MPC and VLC, both show the problem.

please use haali renderer if you have a ps2.0 compatible video card.

I'm running haalia renderer, and I have a gts8800. Perhaps nvidia's shitty drivers are the problem.
