FlaskMpeg replacement?

I use FlaskMpeg to resize and re-encode a video using a different codec. I use it because it's easy to use and it does everything I need it to do. Unfortunately, it is sometimes unstable. Is there a newer tool that has the same functions? Thanks.

there's DVDx which i found to be a good flaskmpeg replacement back in the day. it's still maintained too.

if you like command lines (they can appear daunting but once you've set it up once it's a simple matter to make a batch to do it for you), mencoder can encode directly off DVDs.

i'm not sure if meGUI does the ripping for you, but it'll certainly work as a very comprehensive yet simple backup tool.

or you could go hardcore and do everything via avisynth and separate tools - this is by far the most flexible, but takes a bit of learning (which should be fun enough anyway).
