Need a good software player to play my mkv file.

I recernyl download this anime serie that is encode in mkv format. Normally CCCP will play it on window meaida player with no problem, but I got soem huge problem with this one. First of all, I couldn;t even get window media player to run it. Then I try usign VLC player, it work, but the video playerback is not smooth and it skip a bit. Then I try mplayer2 and wmpc, they play the files, but the coloring seems wrong and there are wierd green play across the screen of playback. Anyone know how should I fix the problem?
