full screen video resolution

I currently have an HTPC connected via componet to a 30 inch HD-TV. The video card (gForce 6500 TC) is set to display 720p, and the TV is capable of 1080i. My question is concerning the output of video files on this setup. If I full screen a video that is 1080i will windows media player automatically change the display resolution to 1080i or will it downscale the video and display it at 720p?

it will downscale and display it at 720p, if that's what your video card is set to output.

Since the display and your card can both do 1080i, use 1080i :)

Hmm mostly,
will automatically downscale to its native pixel at 1366x768p. My Intel GMA3000 in intel946GZ chipset did it. It have capabilities up to 2 megapixel up, but automatically down by plug and play default into 768p as that the only resolution that my LCD TV allowed.

Oh, well if your TV's native resolution is 720p or close to it, then use that. No sense in upscaling a lot, then downscaling again..
