i rented clear & present danger a few days ago, but im having trouble ripping it. i did it with smartripper and in the middle of the 3rd vob file (at 34% total) it froze up and didnt restart

its done this everytime ive tried this dvd, other dvds work great. I tried ripping it in vstrip following doom9's guide for that, but it crashed a bit after i hit Run. can anyone help me?

im using winxp if that makes a difference

A couple of things to look at first...

1. Are you using the SmartRipper version that came with Gknot? Latest version of SR is 2.41 I believe.

2. Are you stream ripping with SR? I use stream ripping and turn off the streams I don't needs such as subs and foreign audio tracks.

3. Have you updated your ASPI driver to the latest XP version that's floating around?

4. The obvious thing to check since it's a rental is for scratches on the disc.

well Socko,

I've also ripped "Clear & Present Danger" under XP and with SR 2.40, and it works!

OK, I have the latest ASPI drivers in my system, maybe thats ur problem?

But I guess matter is right when he says that u probably, u have some scratches on ur disc

i found out the problem, its the disc...cuz i tried to watch it on a friends non-pc dvd player and it would stop at some points in the movie and stuff like that, so its just that particular disk was messed up
