Nero Recode 2 in Nero-7.8.5.0 has bugs?

I´ve been having a little problem with my tests with NR2....in the final movie in the standalone player, even if you enter to the language menu and select audio and subtitle, when you play the main movie, those audio/subs selected in the language menu doesn´t apply.........4ex. I selected AUDIO=Spanish and SUBS=Portuguese in the language menu, but when i play the movie, audio is in english and subs are english too......I have to change them using the buttons audio/subs in the remote control.
I´ve made 5 different movies and all shows the same problem, and when i tried the dvdshrink versions, this problem does not happen, all selection made bia menu were OK.............it´s a bug in NR2 or a feature? :P

I am having problem with Nero Digital ASP encoding. The movie I got after encoding is stuttering, like there is some problem with framerate. The same effect I see when playing some xvids with Nero Showtime. I reverted to Nero 7.5.9.0 and I don't have that problem.

the problem is when you play your dvd in your standalone player or in your pc with powerdvd/winddvd, etc?

my problem is getting weird....now i made another movie with NR2 and when i play in MY standalone player, has the problem noted in my first post (no problem with the same movie made with DVDSHRINK).....but the weird thing is that i tried the NR2 transcoded movie in my friends standalone player and works fine....and of course, the dvdshrinked one, works fine too, obviously :)

My problem is not with DVD, but with Nero Digital ASP. I encode dvd to ND ASP and I have problem I described. There is something broken in Nero since version 7.5.9.0 (which doesn't have those problems).

You sure you didn't have manual quality control set to high and your CPU couldnt cope that?

I returned to version 7.5.9.0 and tested the same movie again with the same options and I don't have the problem. Also Showtime is playing all files now without any problems.

Same problem here using the Ipod5.5g avc setting. I backed up and encoded 3 episodic DVDs which gave me the stutter or framerate drop errors towards what would be the end of each disk.

I tried a different full length DVD movie and it did work with the same settings.

I tried another dvd and the error appeared again. I have tried encoding this film using the backed up video_ts folder off the disk, I ripped an ISO from the disk for a source, and transfered files off the ISO as a source. Each time I recieved the same error at the same place.

Manual quality was set to 1.10 Mbps with the highest quality decision settings and the deblocking at -1. Everything else was default. I tried playing the files on a seperate computer with VLC and Itunes and saw the same error.

Tried the normal Nero Digital- Cinema at 1.10 and still get the same stutter issues. I will try AVC and see what happens.

I, too, have had the same (stuttering) problem. It's like a weird almost blurring motion.

On Galaxy Quest, it happens about an hour into the movie for about 2 minutes. On the 2-disc Fellowship of the Ring, it happens on the second disk (second half of the movie) for about an hour.

Thinking this was maybe some issue with my pc, maybe that I was using too much CPU time for some other tasks, I re-encoded Galaxy Quest, and the same stuttering problems happens at the exact same time, for the exact same amount of time. I haven't tried redoing Fellowship, but I suspect I would get the same results there, too.

The stuttering on Galaxy Quest (R1) begins at 41:39 to 43:18. I am encoding with AVC at 1.53Mbs using 2pass. This is Nero 7.8.0.5.

Stutter happened with telecined source only. Fix is done and under verification.

Recently I´ve made a new discover.......It´s related to VobBlanker.
If I make the FULL dvd with NR2, no problems appears, all the things that I set in the movie´s menues shows OK when I see the film, but, if for any reason I have to "edit" the dvd using VB (removing trailers,etc) and later do a transcoding with NR2 using this "edited" version of the movie, problems appears as described.
I tested so far Spiderman 1 and 2, Thank You For Smoking, Casino Royale, The Prestige (all original Zone 4 dvd´s) with VB 2.1.3.0 with it´s default settings.
As I said, I think it is NOT a VB bug...I think it´s a NR2 bug which reads bad info of the "edited" dvd because if I use DvdShrink on the same "edited" movie, all goes perfect....

Please read #1 at this post.....I´m still with the same problem, but now i discovered that this happen when i "edit" the dvd with VobBlanker and try to transcode the final dvd with NR2.
With DvdShrink all works fine, but with NR2 can´t do.

do you use VobBlanker's strip function? or is it just blanking?
anyway, sometimes you have to check the code manually. try PgcEdit's trace function, before and after editing, and after NR2, to see what's changed

Most of the times I use "blank", from time to time "strip" but 10% of the times.
The funny thing is if I use on this "edited" dvd DVDSHRINK, the final transcoded dvd works great....but if I use NR2 on the same "edited" dvd, the final result has the problems selecting audios and subtitles in the main menu of the movie, as I mentioned.............so......it´s not a problem related with the final structure, it how DVDSHRINK and NR2 read it.
Besides, I´m a newbie with PGCEDIT, that´s why I use VB in the first place ;)

PS. Can someone test what I´m saying? JohnV? Just try doing 2 or 3 dvd blanking some stuff and transcoding it with DVDSHRINK and NR2 and you will see....I think I´m not asking for impossible things here. :)

it seems to me that Nero Recode derives from DVD Shrink, so it must be a new "feature". if i had to guess, i'd say NR2 puts pre-commands before blanked VTS's (maybe because the selected stream doesn't exist after blanking), that changes the selected stream numbers.
but it is only a guesswork, i don't have the new version of NR2.
btw did you try an earlier version? does it do the same?

OK, after a couple of weeks I´ve made some free time and space in my hdd and I´ve made a new test, this time with DvdRemake Pro and latest NR2 (and of course with latest VB too) on the movie PURSUIT_OF_HAPPYNESS region 4.
Unfortunally the results were as I expected....movie made with DVDRemake Pro and NR2 works perfect in the languaje and subs selection, and the movie made with VB and NR2 results were wrong again.
Hope some Nero engineer could read and test this ;)

I can check this, but is this really a serious problem for you if it works with DVDRemake Pro and Recode?
And what makes you think this is not VB's problem if another editor works with Recode?

Some other tasks have got higher priority atm, but it's not forgotten. I know it's very irritating, I just read the latest comments on that specific thread, so I'll do some pushing to hopefully get it priorisized.
