sony dru-710a (dvd-r /dvd+r )

hey guys i have a question on my sony dru-710a it used to burn both GQ dvd-r /dvd+r but now it just wants to burn the GQ dvd+r and not the dvd-r can it be the setting or ??? im use nero, DVD Shrink & 1Click DVD Copy Pro to burn the movies that i get and they burn great if anyone can help me out it would much appreciated thank you

Hi!

If you click on the following link you'll see that it appears that the GQ brand (both +R and -R) can be manufactured by MANY different companies (many LOW quality), with many different dyes.

Further, the comments in that thread seem to indicate that the inconsistencies lead to a lack of reliability. So it may just be that you've gotten some poor quality -Rs, or -Rs that your burner doesn't recognize.

You might want to try some Taiyo Yuden ("T-Y") or Verbatim DVD-Rs to see if your burner will burn them...
