Thanks for the update.
I just tried it out on a single VOB and certainly there is an improvement over what I use to be getting. Now the problem I hear is almost like the MP3 skips a frame or so. It's hard to describe but think of it as though your CD has a scratch and the laser sort of skips over that scratch. That's what I'm hearing but I'll do some more testing on another VOB.
EDIT-
DD,
It seems i found a problem with the 0.6b2 GUI. If I try to change my destination file from say drive e:\temp\tst.mp3 over to just d:\test.mp3 , the GUI doesn't change. The destination will still be e:\temp\test.mp3. The work around is to change the filename while I'm switching drive letters, something like d:\test1.mp3. Then it accepts the change. Hope this makes sense :)
UPDATE-
I just tried encoding a single 678MB VOB to an MP3 and the final result still has the skipping artifact. Something else also happened though, my final MP3 was downsampled to 32Khz. The sound is in sloooow motion now. Here's my command line..
"c:\Program Files\BeSweetv0.94\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "m:\DIVX\godzilla\gzilla AC3 T02 3_2ch 384Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3" -output "d:\gzilla.bsweet.mp3" -logfile "C:\Program Files\BeSweetv0.94\BeSweet.log" ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -M1 -s surround -d 2/0 -c normal -g max -f1 -F wav32 ) -lame( -m a --preset r3mix --verbose --abr 140 )
Please ignore the filenames in the command line above, I wa actually using VOBs. Any idea why it downsampled? Will it be safe if I replace the lame.dll with the newer 3.91 stable DLL?

again, VOB problems.
the program thought the VOB's original sample-rate was 32k.
the track wasn't downsampled, it was just encoded with wrong info (Fs=32k), and now it plays slow :D

hi
i tested i and experienced the same quality problems as described by matter. the mp3 was not downsampled. also, there are other quality issues than in previous versions of besweet. now it's not choppy but like matter described.

Encoded a 1hr and 6min AC3 to MP3 and it sounds perfect. Also it was really fast, total encode time was about 20mins on a PIII 850mhz. Memory footprint was less than 6MB, really nice. Now to figure out why my .lst files don't work as well as the VOB problems:D
UPDATE/
Latest results on another VOB. Detected the source at 32Khz instead of 48Khz. Resulting file sounded slooow

Running test now on a complete movie using a smartripper .lst file
from a batch-file using following command line :
BeSweet\BeSweet.exe -core( -input "d:\riptemp\vob.lst" -output "d:\riptemp\audio.mp3" -substream 0x80 -logfilea "d:\riptemp\noclog.txt" ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -s stereo -d 2/0 -c normal -L -3db -g max ) -lame( -m s -b 160 --nspsytune )
ok final mp3 = 2h10m53s, Movie is : 2h05m06s ?
and alas.. still choppy... damn..
need any more data/tests? , should i try different settings?

@Matter
what sort of .lst files are you using, i'm using smartrippers .lst files,and i've never had a problem with them since version 0.91
before i converted them and it only did 3 of 5 vobs,but now all seems well? (except for the choppy output offcourse)

I just got back from my holiday vacations. I tried the "official" beta v0.9, distributed @Doom9, still the same problems with vob > mp3 encoding, like v0.81. I can't d/l the v0.94 from the url you indicate, your homepage @tripod doesn't answer, ditto for DanniDin's site (access forbidden). The ac3 > mp3 encoding works ok :)

I'm using the SmartRipper lst files as well. The list looks perfect. As soon as I try it with the GUI though, log file pops up right away and says it's finished processing. I've seen the problem before with DD's Azid GUI trying to encode an AC3 file. I prolly need to try and use the command line to see if it works. Nevertheless, it's apparent that VOBs aren't really being ripped properly anyway. I'll wait to see if that bug gets fixed and then worry about why my lst isn't working in the GUI:)

@DSPguru i tried 3 different cbr and vbr encodes from .ac3 ripped by smartripper,
and these came out really good.
@matter .. your right offcourse:D and i use only commandline, it works perfectly from there, it seems to be a gui bug.

ok, so from all the feedbacks here, can i annouce "problem solved" ??
the only report of bug with pure AC3 stream was from j&j.
@j&j
could you upload the problematic AC3 stream so i can test it ?
i even sent you a PM (http://rilanparty.com/vbb/private.php?s=&folderid=0), please read it.

DSPguru,
Yeh, I think your safe to say the choppy problem is gone when converting an AC3. The nasty VOB problems still exist though as I continue testing.

Great work DSPguru! I've tested several different VOBs and the choppy problem is gone. Looks like you found the bug.
The one big problem I still have is that it detcts some of my VOBs as having either 32Khz or 44Khz sound. The fact is the VOBs are actually 48Khz of course. Am I the only one seeing this problem?

great work MaTTeR ! you are my #1 beta-tester :D !
if possible, please test if SSRC works fine with VOBs as well...

Am I the only one seeing this problem? i never met this bug, but will try to fix it. btw - not all AC3 streams are 48khz, that's why BeSweet was written to support also 32khz & 44.1khz inputs.

@DSPguru
So is it possible for a movie to have some VOBs which are 48khz and some others are 44 or even 32khz? That's what I've seen using BeSweet on an entire movie. It might detect one VOB at 48khz and then the next VOB at 44khz. I'm not using the lst file, just selecting a single VOB at a time.
EDIT-
SSRC worked great in my last test;)

so it's probably a bug...

... hi guys, sorry for me being late, i was quite busy getting something going about Ogg in AVIs ( you may check http://www.powerdivx.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=47 for more details ).
I had somebody else betatest Besweet for me and he reported same, problem solved, excellent work. Updated my news page at powerdivx.com already ...
