View Full Version : MeGUI Bug with Output Renaming?

I've noticed a little bug on a couple of systems now that has eaten several hours of encoding tests. At first I thought I was me just crazy and not being careful, but it seems to be MeGUI.

After loading the AVS script in the video portion, I rename the output file below to something else (in my case something descriptive of the encoding params tested). I found that I wasn't getting any other filename as output, only what the AVS file was called.

For example: test.avs loaded, rename output to output.mp4. Actual file created is test.mp4. The command line inside MeGUI shows test.mp4, as well as the queue screen (which is wrong).

I know of some workarounds such as copying and renaming the AVS file or renaming the output after each encode, but this isn't the intended use of MeGUI.

Anyone else confirm this issue?

No one wants to confirm this? I'd really like to know if there is something wrong with my computer setups.

I have never had this issue and can confirm that this does not happen that I have ever seen. When you select your output location, does the end of the destination say what you want you name to be?
ex.
C:\Program Files\Encodes\test 3 threads.mp4

i can confirm it... it does not happen if u use the [...] for selecting the output file...

Ah, now here I was thinking that everyone used the [...] button. So this does look to be an official bug.

Add another person that confirms this behaviour. Type the name in the box after loading your .avs and it won't work correctly. Hit the [...], and you're all set for a proper rename.

Thanks guys for letting me know why this hasn't been such a big deal to everyone! Yea, I guess I do just type it into the box. I'll use the "..." button till there is a fix.

Thanks!
