Hey guys..

i've decrypted my king kong hd-dvd to my hard drive and have rebuilt it so its just the video+audio. i've got the sonic hd directshow filters installed so media player can play the file without any scripts or using graphedit.

i tried opening this file in dr divx, which is what i usually use to convert dvds to divx, but failed to open after scanning it.

i then just made a small avisynth file

directshowsource("video.evo")

which works in media player, but crashes dr divx. it does open in virtualdub though - so i thought i'd use that and convert the video to xvid.

now in virtualdub it's only detecting the audio as being 2.0 instead of 5.1. i'm trying to get a divx/xvid file with 5.1 audio - how do i go about passing 5.1 audio through avisynth + virtualdub so that i can do "direct stream copy" of the 5.1 audio?

From what I remember, only Sonic's 5.3 delivers 5.1 sound. (Or maybe it's only if you buy their incredibly overpriced surround plugin.) There's a lot more info around the end of this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120652

The beginning is entirely non-relevant, the tools have changed so much so quickly. :p

thanks for the response foxy. after thinking about it.. maybe converting the video alone in virtualdub is the way to go as the DDP audio is currently 1.5gb as its 1536kbits/s.

is there a way to convert DDP to plain old AC3 @ 448kb/s?

this way i can just mux it with the video afterwards
