I'm thinking of getting one of those infra-red LED video cameras off eBay and using an old 800MHz PC with capture card as a "time-lapse" VCR as a burgular deterrent.
(You can buy cards with inputs for up to 4 cameras - and it alsoe looks like they use BT878 chips - but I'm just going to use an old single input TV card I've got spare.)
Is there any capture software - preferably free - designed specifically for this purpose? Ideally some thing that installs on Win98 SE, records 1 or 2 fps and compresses to MPEG-4 to keep file sizes down. It would also be great if it could watermark the picture with a time/date stamp, and delete old recordings as the hard disc fills up so it can be left going withou intervention.
