Quicktime 7 Will Not Show Subtitles...

Hi,

I am not completey sure if I am posting this in the right spot or not, but here is my problem:

I have figured out most of the ends and outs of ripping my DVD collection to .h264/mp4 format. I use meGUI for most of the process, but also use SubRip and ChapterXtractor for the subtitles and chapter files. I convert the subtitles to the .txtt and .srt formats. When I mux these together using meGUI or YAMB, the subtitles do not show in Quicktime 7. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Am I using the wrong subtitle format? Perhaps the wrong program? I'm really not sure. I have one other question related to the chapters (not working in any scenario), but I will post that in a different thread.

I don't think QT supports subtitles like that. You might want to check out some other players.

quicktime is a dumb player

therefore it supports ttxt in .3gp files but not in .mp4 files, altough those are 99% identical

if you really need to use quicktime you would need to mux to .3gp (or maybe it also is possible to trick quicktime when setting a 3gp brand in a .mp4 file)
