I have an English 720p DivX and I want to insert the Italian AC3 track taken from the DVD.
The problem is that it is not just a matter of cut& paste - aka VirtualDubMOD & co. - as several parts of the movies are different therefore I definitely a program to work real-time both audio & video tracks.
I was wondering if maybe Adobe Premiere can do the job?
Can it handle .AC3 files and 720p DivX for sure?

Not directly. Anything you could do would require re-encoding, as Premiere cannot handle MPEG-4 natively.

So I guess I would have to decode the DivX into a full-lenght AVI.
What program should I use for that?

I personaly hate recoding videos that've already been encoded. My suggestion is that you open the video and desired audio in your preferred NLE, then edit the audio track to match the video and encode it, and simply mux it with original video.

I have an English 720p DivX and I want to insert the Italian AC3 track taken from the DVD.How on earth did that happen ? How did you get the video from the english version out of your italian DVD for it to be different from the video of the italian version ? ...

Nothing unusual about it. Maybe one version is the regular edition and the other one is director's cut. Or maybe one version is boobless and the other one is boob friendly :D :D :D
