Hello !

I usually use the Big 4 to backup my DVDs but I'm actually testing DVD rebuilder (the free version). It looks like a nice program but each time I'm backing up a DVD I get several CCE crashs (with the Windows XP Dr Watson asking to send the crash info to M$) that cause the encoding process to stop. I tried to figure out why I do get those crashes, although I never got one with the Big 4, and I think CCE crashes each time it has to encode a file that's less than 10MB or something. Sometimes there are 5 of those "small" files in the DVD so I get 5 CCE crashes.

This is very annoying so I'd like to know how to get rid of this problem ?

I use CCE SP 2.67 Trial and DVD Rebuilder v0.98

Thanks in advance! :)

If CCE is crashing the liklihood is system instability. Are you overclocked? That's the usual suspect. If so, try backing down your clock slightly and see if it goes away. That's pretty much fixed it in every report I've gotten of CCE crashing in the past.

My computer is not overclocked! CCE is crashing only when there are files that are less than 10 MB to encode and not with bigger files.

Any recommendations would be welcome ! :)

Try using HC Encoder or QuEnc and see if that works OK. If so you may need to reinstall CCE.

All right, I'll try that and post my results !

I'd recommend you move up (if possible) to a newer version of CCE. There were a lot of odd things that happened with v2.67. As I recall, even the ECL file format is not consistent across all minor versions of that release.

Hello jdobbs, I'll see what I can do with CCE. Maybe it'll fix my problem even though I never had any troubles with this version :)
