This site is incredible, don't get me wrong. It has a lot of excellant intellectual posters and if there's a problem it can pretty much always be solved.

The problem that I have is that I have absolutely no idea where to post questions. My threads keep getting moved and I get complaints that I'm not putting things in the right area.

My thought is, why not a section where one can ask a question and someone can point them to the correct area to post it? Seems silly, I know, but it would prevent putting things in the wrong area-- and let's face it, there are so many categories here that one-- especially a new one-- could get lost very easy.

For example, right now I'm looking for a good, free, gui VOB editor to cut out some scenes from a project I started. The software that came with my cam is crap so I'm looking for something to replace it.

Now, I could place that question in:

DVD authoring
Advanced DVD authoring
IFO/VOB Editors

One of those surely would be the right place, but I'm more then likely going to get a lot of flak before I find it, or be bounced around for days until I hit the right space.

Of course, I could post my question in all 3, but that would be a form of spamming the boards which would obviously upset a lot of people as well.

It's very intimidating when you're trying to get started and nobody wants to step on anyone's toes.

Thanks!

You had one thread moved. It was clearly an audio question that you did not post to the audio forum.

Until you learn the lay of the land you can post anything to the Newbies forum and nobody will get irritated. You can also send a PM to any mod and they will be happy to help you.

Regarding your specific question, it would certainly be appropriate to post a question about VOB editors to the IFO/VOB Editors forum. :)

We'll see what happens, but thanks for responding.
