can´t delete divx files

I didn´t know where to put this question, so i put it here.
Well, after installing divx 4.12 and earlier versions i can´t delete my AVI files encoded with divx 4 & 3 at all...i have to go to safe mode (command prompt) to be able to delete those got damn files!
This really bothers me big time!! im getting crazy on it?!?? How should i solve this!??!
Plizz help,.,

I´m able to delete mpegs, though i haven´t tested if other avi files encoded with something else can be deleted..but i suppose it is only divx :/

Click on the avi and wait about 15 secs for WinXP to collect information from the avi file.. then you will be able to delete it.. or don't use Windows Explorer find another filesystem browser. ;o)

my bet is
xp is previewing the .avi in a little window
lower left of screen.
Its using it for the preview, so u can't delete it.
turn off the preview window and u will be able to delete the files!

Yep, its the preview window. I had the same problem in Win2k before I blew it up. If I remember correctly, do not select the file prior to deleting. Instead, right click on the file and select delete.
