What advantages does the Haali Media Splitter offer when used with Media Player Classic?

Does it improve throughput of large sources like HD?

Haali's splitter has better support for advanced features of mkv files than MPC's internal mkv splitter. Haali's support for ogm files is also great. More recently, Haali did a new renderer which does proper color conversion (for yuy2 input) and bicubic resizing, while also respecting LUT corrections made by color correction equipment (if you use any).

That question is about parsing speed. MPC bogs down with large frames and high data rates. I'm wondering how much of that is related to the splitter.

I found the following advantage using the haali splitter together with MPC:

From time to time I am working with transport streams containing avc video ( 1920 * 1080i ) and ac3 audio. Those streams often have very long gops. Sometimes the internal splitter of the MPC is not able to determine the video type of such streams, probably because it does not analyse enough TS packets to find a video sequence header. In such case MPC only plays back the audio part of the stream. This behavior does not occur if I use the haali splitter instead the built in splitter.
