View Full Version : .AVI to SVCD - File Only Half Complete

I'm trying to convert a ~40min .avi file into a svcd. After running the program, it creates a CD Image file, about twice the size of the original .avi file. However, once this file is played, the actual film is only about 20 mins of the original 40 mins. The file being created is called CD_Image_File_CD1; with this name I feel that there should be a CD_Image_File_CD2 created with the rest of the movie.

Thus, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong with the settings or if the program isin't finishing the entire movie. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As I'm reading over my own log file, would the fix be to change the setting on the Bitrate Tab to maybe 2 cd's or 1 DVD for 0 to 50 mins?

Another quick question, would the quality be better if I decided to do .avi to DVD instead of an SVCD ?

Here are the log files:

OK. You should get a 40min AVI onto a single SVCD in very presentable quality. Yes it may be better on 2 cd's or even a DVD but I doubt it would be significantly so.

A few distinct peculiarities do leap out from that log file. Firstly that if you check the disk space figures between the start of the process and the start of video encoding, the audio extraction and encoding appears to take up next to no hard disk space. Does the finished file have sound throughout?

Secondly, I looked at the number of frames to encode in the CCE section and it lists as zero. What version of CCE are you using? My suspicions are either an incompatible CCE version (see the stickies for details of supported encoders) or a peculiar AVI (try the vdubmod trick in the AVI problems sticky if you're sure your CCE version is OK).

Let us know how you get on. Oh, and welcome to the forums - nice first post :)

The finished 20min video has sound throughout and I'm using CCE SP Ver 2.50.01.00

Sorry for the delay in response, been a bit busy with school :)
