As my other thread got locked without giving me the chance to edit it to comply with the rules i will rephrase it so that i do comply with them.

Basically I was wondering how i would go about converting a 1080p Mkv source into a 720p xvid avi file.

Wondering what program i could do this with.

Thanks

I fear that this thread will be closed also, because you clearly havent followed rule #1 (reading up on the site and the guides) and rule #1a (using the search).

When you would have done that, you would have found out that MKV is merely a container;

The actual type of video (i.e. what codec is used, XviD,AVC, whatever) and audio within that container has to be know to give you an appropriate answer.

And I know for shure that you can find out how to do this yourself, cause i have seen many many examples of what you want to do on this forum in the past few weeks allone.

Ive had a search but couldnt seem to find anything on it. I knew that AVI was simply a container but didnt know that MKV was aswell ( my bad )

I have video inspector so ill take a look and see what codecs it uses. I am still unsure as to which program i can use to convert it with though. I have used TMPGenc Xpress in the past and that always worked well so i guess ill give that a try later on.

If a moderator closes your thread you have to accept that decision; rephrasing won't do.

Strike for violation of rule 4 ("respect the moderator"). Also your original post touches upon a rule 6 violation, too, and would at least have led to a lengthy discussion about whether or not it actually is a violation.

So, don't post about this topic again.
