View Full Version : run-time error 55 during Rebuild

I was just trying to do another backup of Rocky Balboa(R1 and ripped with RIFM), when I got this "run-time error 55 - file already open" when RB got to VTS_89. Anyone with any ideas?

Got to VTS_89 when? PREPARE, ENCODE, or REBUILD?

Rebuild.
Here are the last few lines from the log if it helps:

- Processing VTS_89
- Reading/processing TMAP table...
- Rebuilding seg 0 VOBID 1 CELLID 1
- Updating NAVPACKS for VOBID_01
- Updated VTS_C_ADT.
- Updated VTS_VOBU_ADMAP.
- Updated IFO: VTS_89_0.IFO
- Updating TMAP table...
- Correcting VTS Sectors...

 I just ran it again last night and it ran fine. The only difference would be that I used AnyDVD for the rip... I'll try running RipIt4Me and see what happens. Any other changes or preprocessing?

Full Movie and I blanked all the previews with the preview editor.

Now, I don't get it at all. I redid the entire project with the same source, blanking exactly the same things but this time, with the new segment editor, and RB finished it just fine. The first time, I encoded once, edited with the old editor, but tried the Rebuild 5 different times and received the error every time.
What exactly does the error mean, and could it be a glitch somehow in my system?

I'm not sure, but I will definitely check it out.

Just wondering -- are either of you running a virus package that is based upon Kaspersky?

Jus as an added note, the RipIt4Me job completely correctly also.

I wish there was some specific set of procedures that would cause this so I can repeat it. I hate the thought of a bug like this randomly hitting users...

Not here. I turn off all background everything on my McAfee and scan all email attachments and dowloaded files, as necessary, manually. Wish I could help more, but like I said earlier, i even used the same source on both, only different preview editors, got the error once, but not the second time.

B.T.W. I happened to notice that when using the new editor for the first time, that stills didn't show up in the VTS list. However, with VTS 89, it was listed but there was nothing stating that it would be left intact, and there was no check box to replace with blank video either. Any chance this could be relevant(grasping at straws) ?

jdobbs
30th March 2007, 02:15
I don't think so. I think the error is happening when VIDEO_TS.VOB is being scanned/updated (commands). I've looked at it quite a bit, though, and haven't seen anything that might cause this... still looking.

Do any of you still have the project on disc where you can repeat it in a REBUILD? If so, would you mind if I sent you a special version that writes out some data at the time it is happening? That way maybe I can find out what is going on.

SpazzHH
30th March 2007, 03:14
I can sure give it a try. I'll see if I can get it to happen again. I won't be able to run the project again until tomorrow though.

No, I had Zone Alarm Security suite, antivirus was disabled, but real-time SPAM and Ad ware scanning was enabled. I uninstalled Zone Alarm and tried again, still no luck.

Yes, I Do. Sure I can help here!

Thinking about it, the only application I can remember installing is since my last uasage of DVDRebuilder Pro the Nero Premium 7.8.5.0

Finished casino royale R2, dvd5 iso plays correctly without any error or audio synch problem. Seems to be a rip problem than a dvd-rb problem, even no problem with drag'n'drop VIDEO_TS files in a Nero DVDVideo compilation tool

FixVTS --> good tool ;)

Ok. I found what caused this and fixed it for the next version (I'll probably release it tomorrow, I'm testing it now). It only happens on some pretty unusual discs. Even then it was only likely to happen if you have VTS_MIN_SIZE set to a low value (but not exclusively) -- which is, I think, why it was only reported by a few folks and wasn't easily repeatable.

If any of you folks would like to test the new version that is to be released tomorrow, you can download it from this link. (http://www.jdobbs.com/4650-5006-3790-4761-9251-5444/DVD-RB_v1.233Pro.exe) Of course, it will only work for registered users. If you want to download just the ZIP with changes you can get it here. (http://www.jdobbs.com/4650-5006-3790-4761-9251-5444/DVD-RBv1233pro.zip) (That's for you, Rippraff ;))

I tested, and everything goes fine with 1.23.3. I have problem with the movie "Ship of the Fools" R2 (RipIt4Me the ripping tool).
Thanks jdobbs for your efforts.

*lol* Thanks a bunch m8! I've always dreamed of my own personal version. :D
And I can confirm that the menu encoding refresh bug is fixed now. :)

Hello mutenroid! :)
What did you use to rip the title? I'm having audio sync issues with the very same title...
Is there any tool to check if audio is in or out of sync?
Thanks...

With the DVD output, or with MOBILE output?

Hello! :)
The DVD output. I was thinking of a software which
could analyze the DVD output that I got from a rip of this title.
If it's possible to do within DVD-RB pro that would be great.
I find it very difficult and confusing to judge from lipmovement
and other sounds in movie, using PC or standalone player.

The reason I asked is because it's actually pretty difficult to get out of sync when doing a DVD with Rebuilder (but more possible when doing MOBILE encoding) -- because the audio and video streams have clock values throughout... and they stay consistent with that of the original. The only thing I could imagine is if something went wrong with the encoding and some frames got dropped -- and even then it should pop back into sync at the start of the next cell (and the framecount difference would be noted as a warning in the Rebuilder LOG file).

Hello Varekai ;)

AnyDVD was used to rip this film, after fixed with FixVTS and rebuilder builded iso without any problem.

For rip, now i move from anydvd to RipIt4Me, it's free and works well.

PD: jdobbs, any new about menu encoding problem with star wars?? Thanks.

@jdobbs
Thanks for your reply and sorry for my late reply, I've been busy.
If I understand you right you mean that if DVD-RB can process
and encode (CCE) this title the audio sync is perfectly OK?
I have to admit I don't understand the technical stuff you mention...

I tried so many different methods for ripping this title and
getting many different outputs, DVDShrink accept some and refuses
some with the error "Failed to open file... VIDEO_TS.VOB"

DVD-RB seems to work and the quality is as usual excellent but the audio?
I'll do a new session and closely read the log.

@mutenoid
Thanks for answering, got another question: Did you have the
option "Remove unreferenced and blank cells" enabled in AnyDVD
when ripping this title?
If I have it enabled I get the DVDShrink error as described above.
Unabled and DVDShrink works, but is audio in sync...? confusion...

Hello! :)
Did a new rip using same settings as mutenroid and found no warning in DVD-RB log so I guess all is well then! Thanks...
