is out there something like this ?
i really REALLY do not like nero, it creeps into system and makes presence in every system config file found,
id' like something more portable, capable to run on usb-stick etc..
i found something called NeroDigitalAudio a small pack of command line programs, i know, it is nero but let make exemption here :p , but it is not good either, it needs wav files for input
is out there something else in this field ?

There are different sbr encoders available. The most useable for the end of users are :
Nero Digital Audio AAC Command Line.
Winamp - Coding Technologies
Helix Producer
3GPP Reference compressor.

it needs wav files for inputall cli encoders need wav for input. You should use some GUI fo example BeHappy and you encoder to AAC in bot Nero CLI and Coding Technologies.

No, no, no...not all cli encoders need wav as input. Think about pipeline.

I mean of direct file input, not pipe. Lame have aslo mp1/2/4 file input, other cli encoders only wav, raw pcm.
So only way to make pipe without typing commands is behappy

the nero encoders accept input from stdin, you should be fine with that.

ok, i got now neroaac enc up and running,
i downloaded also gui - sng_beta2 from: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Simple-NeroAACEnc-GUI--SNG-Download-50287.html
it is not on official website
now i got question:
i use it to transcode mp3 files, is there any quality loss over such procedure ?
i use HEv2 AAC vbr quality 1.00
is there significant quality loss ?

HEv2 is intended for low quality when very low bitrates are required.
Maybe your are confused using HEv2 and Quality 1.0 (the maximum). If you want quality don't force the encoder to hev2.

unless there's a real need to have your audio in he-aac, then leave it in mp3.
transcoding lossy to lossy introduces huge quality losses - more than one would expect, because of the way lossy codecs exploit human hearing.
of course, you could re-rip from CD, and if you're going to HE-AAC, then the losses will be big regardless of the input format.
