View Full Version : Scenarist skips title menu from open

My first play on the DVD is an open video (which i have in the VideoManager folder with my main menu). The post command on the open video is for the Main (Title) Menu, but if you press skip on the remote while the open is playing, it takes you to the root menu in VTS_1.
The client really wants to see the main menu after the open when he hits skip on the remote & i'm sad to say, i don't know how to redirect the action to go to the title menu instead of the root! (Even though if left to play in it's entirety, it goes to the Title menu anyway).
Any ideas???

As scenarist has complicated structures, maybe it is helpful if we can see your scenario picture. Do you mean your open video is also in VideoManager as another PGC? Do you test it on more players?

That's a common dvd player bug. When you press skip on your remote and no explicit chapter point is next, sometime the player (hardware or software) will either jump to the post command, or to the next title he can find in the dvd structure.
The best workaround is to create an half second capter at the end of your video by drag & dropping an half second lenght still frame (usually a black one, or a pic of your last video frame) in your opening video PGC.

So rearrange the structure !

The black still frame idea as a chapter is a good one. I will give that a go.
Yes, the open video is in a language folder with the main title menu within the video manager. The Open video is set for 1st play.

in addition to a little piece of black (btw, 15 frames minimum or you'll get problems), make sure you disable last chapter skip, or your client will be able to reproduce the problem by just hitting skip twice instead of once.

Technically that is only true for an NTSC project -- you can use 12 frames of black for a PAL project.
Although I guess the point is that very few users are going to notice any difference between 12 or 15 frames (being that they're both equal to half a second in their respective frame rates).
