Opening GOP Not Closed !! Error

This is the message that I get


WARNING! Opening GOP is not closed. The few frames may not be decoded correctly.


How do I resolve this ?

From the user manual:

Sometimes due to cutting or editing, video streams may start with several frames that cannot be decoded properly (because their reference frames are missing). When this is the case for the first file in your file list, DGIndex will warn you by popping up a dialog box containing this message: "WARNING! Opening GOP is not closed. The first few frames may not be decoded correctly." This is just a warning and does not prevent DGIndex from operating correctly. In this case, DGIndex replaces the first few frames with copies of the first good decodable frame. Note that this warning and replacement occurs only for the first file in the file list.

manoflogan, you can use videoredo to repair the stream. Just open and save the entire stream.

The reason I asked is that I have a bunch of decrypted Vobs for the movie "Stranger Than Fiction", which play in SYNC, but when I decrypt them, I get this error about the GOP and the audio streams have different delay

If you rip the VOBs and then load them all into DGIndex at once you should not get this error. If you load an individual VOB that is not the first, you can get it.

How did you rip them and how did you load them in DGIndex?

I ripped the VOBs using RipIt4Me and loaded the movie vobs in the DGIndex only not the menu vob

The rest were default settings

When I start demuxing all audio tracks, I get audio streams with different delays in them infact two streams with 71646 ms and the thrird with 71742 ms

I am having similar issues with this movie.

This seems to be a similar problem to the one previously discussed here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=121537)

The one thing I've noted all these movies have in common is that they are all Sony Pictures DVD sources.

OK, then you can apply the same workaround. Load the VOB. Hit the > key to advance one GOP. Then hit the [ key to start the project one GOP from the start. Then save the project as usual. The correct audio delay will be reported.

BTW, the open GOP warning is a red herring.

I did indeed use the previous method as before, and my encode is running right now (fingers crossed:) ). I just figured that I'd add one more source for you to work with, since you mentioned back in january the you were looking for sources with audio synch issues, and because of the problem with different delays being between different audio tracks, as mentioned above. For all I know different delays may be a common thing and no actual problem at all. Thanks for the great tool tho!
