I've been using WMP11 to play all of my media with ffdshow, but recently it has been giving me problems. For example, this video was taken with a digital camera, but will not play correctly on my pc, but it will on others.

Also, x264 mkv files don't play either in WMP11 I either get an error or it freezes. It works with the lazy man's mkv codec, but I don't see why ffdshow could be causing problems. BTW, the videos play fine in vlc player.

My pc specs are:
Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
1024MB DDR2 Ram
Asus 7300LE PCI-E graphics card (with latest drivers).

Thanks for all your help.

Open WMP11, go to Tools (press "Alt" key to bring up menu) -> Options -> Performance -> Advanced...

Make sure "Use high quality mode" is unchecked.

See if that helps.

Thank you, that helped. But the mkv files are still giving me trouble. Any ideas?

You have the latest Haali's splitter and ffdshow-tryout build? And in ffdshow, can you try going into output tab and uncheck all but rgb, if updating doesn't help?

High Quality mode enables YUV Mixing Mode in VMR7 - so if that's causing problems, the problem might be in the YUV output of ffdshow.
