View Full Version : Belight problems causing DvdAuthorGui error?

Hello!

Software Setup:
Avid Xpress DV (PAL) (export as .mov, .wav. Movie, sound file independent exports )
CCE Basic (.mov to .mpv)
BeSweet, Belight (.wav to ac3)
DVDAuthorGui (.mpv,.ac3 to Audio, Video_TS)
ImgBurn

I have just burnt my first dvd and it was not really what I was hoping for..ff

1 The sound is missing. It starts with, how do you say it in english, at the very first half second there is some jitter noice and then its dead quiet for the rest of the film. The wav sound is good but when I use Belight, every ac3 has the same malfunction. I have used Dynamic Compression Normal, Hybridgain, output sampling rate (crossed and uncrossed) 48000, 448 kbps, no LFE, output dplii, no convert Frame Rate.
When Belight is encoding to ac3 I cant see anything happening in the "Current track" and "Total", there is no value in "Time remaining" either..

2 The picture comes with a strobe or stuttering effect. Wherever there is motion in the picture, done by an actor or created by the handheld camera, there is no smothness to it. I believe the mpv conversion is successful because when I view the picture in the DVDAuthorGui´s chapters editor everything looks great. While DVDAuthorGui outputs the Audio, Video_TS folder it makes some not so promising comments: mpv looks like a mpeg video stream... ac3 looks like an ac3 stream, 720*576, 4:3, 25fps, 9400000, Warning audio sector out of range... (Many many rows of this kind).

Despite this Imgburn burns everything..

3 Feel free to give me som hints on possible Freeware improvements!

Thank you for any answers..!

Seems an audio problem, then you need send the BeSweet log, because:
"I have used Dynamic Compression Normal, Hybridgain, output sampling rate (crossed and uncrossed) 48000, 448 kbps, no LFE, output dplii, no convert Frame Rate."
can't be all applied to the conversion needed. Go by steps.

1) Input file: from a DV maybe is a wav stereo 48 KHz. Ok?

2) Software needed: for encode to ac3 you need the last aften_rev461 (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/index.php?dir=Aften/) and BeLight 0.22 RC1 (http://coreforge.org/projects/belight/)

3) Encode parameters.
Dynamic Compression: not applicable.
SSRC: 48000 (only if original wav is not 48000 already)
Boost: not recommended
OTA: PreGain (HybridGain is not appicable)
Advanced Settings: Only checked 'Output Log file'
AC3 TAB: Stereo, Aften, Bitrate 192 Kb/s (maybe 224, but 448 is only for multichannel)

Try now and send the log if there are problems.

Thank you for your reply. I am in a different rythm right now and had to sleep so.. I first tried your recommendations:

BeLight-0.22_RC1 + aften_rev467 (aften 461 was not on that link). In the small box with exe Files Browsing I put the path to the aften application file. I used your encode parameters and then went to "Open file", but the file didnt show in the window. When I clicked "Save" I got the following error message: "Access violation at address 00503B9E in module Belight.exe. Read of address 00000030". The log said:

[22:15:43] : BeLight version 0.2.2.0 RC1 started !
[22:15:43] : Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (version 5.0, Build 2195 : Service Pack 4)
[22:15:43] : Checking libraries for BeSweet...
[22:15:43] : ac3enc.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : azid.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : bsn.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : hip.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : lame_enc.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : libvorbis.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : mp2enc.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : shibatch.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : soundtouch.dll missing !!!
[22:15:43] : NeroAacEnc.exe is missing in BeSweet folder...
[22:15:43] : EnhAacPlusEnc.exe is missing in BeSweet folder...
[22:15:43] : SpeexEnc.exe is missing in BeSweet folder...
[22:15:43] : Flake.exe is missing
[22:15:43] : Aud-X Encoder not detected...

I guess Belight needs the BeSweet files.. In the Exe files Browsing box I put the path to the Besweet application but left the path to Aften application highlighted. I got a little different error log which said the program was lacking some files. The Belight Beta is said to have some Access Violation bug fixes but I cant make it work either.

Best Wishes

I get the same access violation error. In Exe Files Browsing I choose a second path to Aften and the program opens with the Aften setup. The Log:

[07:39:14] : BeLight version 0.2.2.0 RC1 started !
[07:39:14] : Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (version 5.0, Build 2195 : Service Pack 4)
[07:39:14] : Checking libraries for BeSweet...
[07:39:14] : NeroAacEnc.exe is missing in BeSweet folder...
[07:39:14] : Aud-X Encoder not detected...

Its definately shorter ;-)
Any Ideas?

I get the same access violation error. In Exe Files Browsing I choose a second path to Aften and the program opens with the Aften setup.

Now are only warnings without problem if you don't need NeroAacEnc or Aud-X. The problem is the crash "Access violation...".

I don't know how work BeLight with Windows 2000 Professional, maybe is user rights ...

You can try also comand line style:

aften -b 192 input.wav output.ac3

"Access violation at address 00503B9E in module
Belight.exe. Read of address 00000030".

I dont know what command line style is.. I am new to this kind of work.

Could the Access Violation error mean that another software is causing trouble to Belight?
When I exported the wav file contains one minute of nothing at all before the actual audio file starts. I need this "space" before the audio file starts and stops because of the sync.

If this doesnt provide any solution, which audio tool should I use do You think?

About Access Violation : how did you load/open your wav file ?

Uninstall your package and try to make a fresh install with the last installer. Then open your file with File-->Open Files Menu.

The Access Violation Error disappeared when using AftenGUI-1.3 together with aften_rev467 to create my 2 channel ac3 sound from wav. I now get synchronized sound throughout the whole film, but whenever there is a loud sound, a scream or something like that, my speakers cant handle it and create noice/distortion... (These small but often occuring "sound cracks" are there when using TMPGenc as well). How can I get rid of them? My wav sound before encoding is perfect.

I used these AftenGUI-1.3 settings:
General Settings: 192 kbps (Certain VBR Setting or Higher CBR not better?)
Filters and Overrides: Bandwith Low-Pass Filter activated (I have had both settings inactivated as well), High Pass filter activated, Audio Coding Mode 2/0 (L,R)
Everything else I left at Default.

Can a tool like Audacity improve my audio?

To obtain an identical ac3 than the wav source my recommendations are:

General Settings: 192 kbps (224 max recommended for 2.0, never use VBR for avi or DVD audio tracks), DRC = None, DiaNorm = 31, and 'ignored'

Levels: -3 dB all

Filters and Overrides: Filters unchecked, Audio Coding Mode 2/0 (or Unspecified), Bits allocation: more accurate

Misc: all defaults (Unchecked, "-1", "512-p", "Ignored","Ignored","Standard"), but try Stereo ReMatrixing: Independent

If after this your ac3 sounds different to your wav source you need check your player, maybe you have different settings to play wav files than ac3 files.

Guess what.. I controlchecked with a new TV connected to my standalone dvdplayer and the Aften sound was great on it! It must have been my burner NEC 3500AG that didnt play my dvd well. (My old TVs inputs just crashed. Bad timing or what?)

Ok take care you all and thanx for your remarks!

I am not home free yet since the picture still has a strob to all movements in it. When viewed in my computer there is nothing wrong, so I think it has to do with interlacing and fields and such. I will surf this forum and see if I can catch something. I will keep your settings in mind, tebasuna.

Bye!
