I'm trying to rip a movie that includes some forced subs.

First, let me ask is there a way to identify which sub stream is the regular one and which is forced in AutoGK? All it showed was two English sub tracks with no more info on them. I chose the 2nd one and in advanced settings enabled forced subtitles only. The end result had no forced subs.
The next day I did the same thing again, but this time chose the first sub track. Same thing happened, no forced subs.
I've since used a different program to rip it but I'd like to know how to get it to work in AutoGK for future reference.

subresync is a good tool to check if the subtitle tracks contain forced subs or not...

Well the program I eventually used clearly marked them as English and English Forced. So I chose the forced and ripped it and all was well.
But I chose both subtitles with AutoGK and neither time were the forced subs on the final result. I know it was one of them, had to be, but neither worked.

Even telling with Subresync which has forced, how do you tell them apart once you're in AutoGK if it only says:
English
English

Edit: How do you tell which is forced in Subresync? Is the Forced column checked or do you just go by the shorter sub list?

i never used agk.

But in general it is quite easy to preview your avs in vdm for example.

# SUBTITLES
VobSub("C:\your path\your idx")

in subresync test the different subtitle tracks and scroll down to see if there are some forced flags.
But mostly the movies contain special subtitle tracks with the subs you are looking for.

Yeah I tested both sub tracks in Subresync but neither had any forced flags showing, so I'm assuming the drastically shorter list was the forced list.

But that still doesn't differentiate them in AutoGK. It's frustrating spending 3 hours ripping a movie only to find out the wrong sub track was checked.

But putting that aside, I did 2 rips, using each of the sub tracks, and neither one placed the forced subs in the end result. Can anyone advise how to get forced subs working?

Did you run the Preview before doing the encode, to help find which were the subs you wanted?

I'm a little unclear about your process. If they have their own subtitle stream, they're not forced, and you don't check the Forced Subs box. If they're part of a larger stream, then you check the Forced Subs box.

I did a preview with each sub stream but neither one showed any subs in the preview so I just had to try ripping with each one separately and hope one worked. Neither did.

Ok, based on what you said, since the forced subs actually had their own stream I shouldn't have checked "Show Forced Subs Only". Only if they're part of the main sub stream is it checked. I'll try that next time. Would having that option checked prevent any subs from being shown in the preview as well?

Hi-

That's correct.

If you checked Forced Subs and they're not Forced Subs, then they won't show in the Preview.
