Hi guys
It is not strictly a rippin question, but I donīt know where to ask else.
I got the problem that some .AVI files I got are a almost silent, and Iīd like to change that. Anyone know IF it is possible and HOW to make that?

demux the audio and wack into sound forge and cool edit, make it louder there. also check all your volume controls are turned up full, as your problem doesn't sound normal.

recompress the audio and mux it back into the avi.

there's ample tools on doom9.org to do this, just search.

Or you can just load the .avi in virtualdub and check Video direct stream copy and Audio to AVI Audio and full processing mode. Then set Audio -> volume... to your liking and save the .avi to different name.
This increases signal to noise ratio tough.

that's easier but not the best idea. use the normalise option minimse this or find some psychoacoustic plugin like the WAVES MAXIMIZER. This plugin can really boost the sound without increasing signal to noise ratio. it will help retain the quality of the original. it will be a job finding this on the net unless you get the demo version from www.waves.com
