hi,
my question is simple:
Who benefits from AC3 Sound?
Here, I've the standard stuff of Soundhardware with my SoundBlaster Live Value and the Creative Cambridge Soundworkers. So, the normal sound-stuff for gamers.
Will I benefit from the AC3 Sound with that hardware?
And if no, with which hardware would u benefit from AC3?

You can get 5.1 sound with a 5.1 soundcard + speaker set, or if you use the spdif output (if your soundcard has one) to a dolby digital receiver (in regularhome stereo A/V setup)

My ears benefits:)
If your into surround sound then AC3 5.1 is the way to go. I'm not sure if your Live! card supports 5.1, I dumped mine after giving up on the SPDIF output on it. You could spend $50 on a Zoltrix Nightingale 6 Pro thats full featured and dont have to worry about the dang Live software. For the money you can't beat the sound and ease of use. Just my 2 cents.

5 channel AC3 = dolby surround
2 channel AC3 = professionally downmixed sterio audio.
Both = no recompression of sound = better quality

AC3 with SPDIF pass through is an advantage mainly for people who play DVD's on their computers hooked up to a good surround sound system, or who rip DVD's and want to preserve the Dolby Digital soundtracks.
It is of little use for games or downloaded music such as mp3's.
