Apologies for the confusion regarding my last post, it won't happen again!

Although I'm in IT I'm definitely a newbie when it comes to DVD ripping. I'm trying to figure out how to archive individual chapters to MPEG1 (w/ mp2 audio) files. The only step I've taken so far is to install SmartRipper and try to use it, however I get the following message similar to:

"Some files are locked. Please open a player to unlock them."
on the main .VOB file.

Does this mean that I should have a player open already and that will unlock them? I thought that having another program open would make it harder for the ripper to access the disk. But what do I know! I'm assuming I'll also need a program to convert from MPEG2/aac to MPEG1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an ASPI problem. Try DVDDecrypter or RipIt4Me.

Thanks for the tip. I ended up using this basic path:

DVD Decrypter (Unenc. VOB) --> AutoGK (AVI) --> CCE (MPEG1)

However because I wanted only certain chapters I used Fotios Batch file splicer, and then had to use DivFix to clean up the AVI and VCDGear to clean up the MPEG. Was there an easier way I could have done this (DVD-->MPEG1 for specific chapters) without using 6 different programs? I'd like to know for next time!

You could have ripped the chapters individually or you could have set project ranges in DGIndex.
